1 -- ISTANBUL
Our

This
tour starts daily in Istanbul, yet please keep in mind that we keep
the right to substitute some site based on the following: Topkapi Palace
is closed on Tuesday. Ayasofia is closed on Monday. Kariye Museum is
closed on Wednesdays. The Grand Bazaar is closed on Sundays.
DAY
2 -- ISTANBUL- (Breakfast. Lunch)
We dive right into this fascinating city with visits to its top sights:
Topkapi, the palace of the Sultans for centuries; Hagia Sophia,
the greatest church in Christendom for a thousand years; the Blue
Mosque, with its exquisite blue tiles; the Byzantine Hippodrome,
scene of chariot races and gladiator combat; and the eerie Sunken Palace
cistern beneath it. Then a drive through modern neighborhoods brings
us to the ancient city walls and the Kariye Museum (Chora Church),
filled with brilliant Byzantine mosaics.

DAY 3 - Istanbul - Konya By Air (Breakfast
. Lunch )
We start our second day in Istanbul with a exploring Spice Market and
Rustem Pasha Mosque, then get on board and take a leisurely Bosphorus
Cruise from Eminonu, to the still unspoiled village of Sariyer. After
lunch in a local restaurant we visit the Dolmabahçe Palace;
overlooking the Bosphorus, it is definitely incomparable with 14 tons
of pure gold used for its interior decoration, its priceless paintings,
furniture, a rich collection of Bohemian crystal in addition to its
famous Harem section. We end the day with a visit to Chora Church, with
its 14th century mosaics and frescoes of almost supernatural beauty.
The most important features of the church are the frescoes and mosaics
demonstrating the finest Byzantine art forms and parallel, in time,
developments in Italian renaissance art. Late afternoon we drive to
airport for your flight to Konya. Overnight in Konya.
Day
4 - Konya - Pamukkale (Breakfast . Dinner )
After breakfast tour the highlights of Konya’s architectural and
religious legacy. Visit the Mevlana Museum Monastery of Whirling Dervishes,
the Ince Minare and Karatay Medrese Islamic Theological Schools. Afterwards
drive to Pamukkale.
Day 5 - Pamukkale - Kusadasi (Breakfast
. Dinner )
After a leisurely breakfast, see the limestone hot springs and spectacular
white rock formations. Stroll in the ancient Roman city of Hierapolis
with theatre, baths, necropolis. Then drive to Kusadasi. En route visit
Aphrodisias, the city of Aphrodite, an ancient city of sculpture and
arts. Tour the theater and the magnificent stadium. Overnight in Kusadasi.
Day 6 - Ephesus (Breakfast . Dinner )
Morning drive to Ephesus. Visit the Basilica of St. John’s, his
tomb and the House of Virgin Mary. Afternoon tour Ephesus with its legendary
marble streets, the magnificent amphitheater, Hadrian Temple and Celcus
Library. Reach Kusadasi for dinner. In evening stroll through the shops
and overnight.

You may join the tour starting any day of the week, but the itinerary
may change due to site closings: The Grand Bazaar is closed on Sunday,
Hagia Sophia on Monday, Topkapi Palace on Tuesday, and the Kariye Museum
on Wednesday. When a sight is closed, we substitute another sight of
comparable interest.
