We'll
meet up at our BUS TERMINAL at 645 Gran Vía (corner of Carrer
del Bruc) and start off at 9:30 a.m. We'll follow the Via Layetana,
and visit the Barcelona Cathedral (ticket included in tour price),
then continue around the Gothic Quarter, the oldest area of Barcelona,
a virtual treasure house of medieval buildings stretching all around
Sant Jaume Square.
We'll cross centuries in a matter of minutes
as we head to the Port and the Olympic Village. We'll continue up
to Montjuic for a panorama of the city, and on to the Olympic Stadium
and Sant Jordi Palace. Our morning concludes at the Poble Espanyol
(Spanish Village), where we'll enjoy lunch and taste Catalan Cava
(champagne) among re-creations of towns from all over the country.
Our afternoon includes a visit to Güell
Park, designed by the noted architect Antoni Gaudi, and we'll make
a stop at one of his most famous works, the still-incomplete Sagrada
Familia church with its fantastical shapes. We'll see the Monumental
Bullring and visit the Picasso Museum (ticket included), as well
as some stunning examples of Barcelona architecture, including the
Lleo Morera, Ametller, and Mila houses. We'll return to the bus
terminal by about 7 p.m.
Please note: the Picasso Museum is closed on Sundays and Mondays.
Tours on these days will include the Santa María del Mar
church or La Ciudadela.
