Gaudi's Barcelona
Duration: 4 Hours. Lunch Included
Your tour begins with a drive to Park Güell. This park is located on top of a hill in the city of Barcelona and is one of the most important creations by famed architect Gaudí. The park, high above the city, features some of Gaudí's most significant structures. Along the way your guide will provide commentary on the city and its architecture. Park Güell is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The area was to be a planned city, but that never came to pass. It is now a delightful park with many whimsical Gaudí creations some of which are covered in mosaic. Perhaps the most original of the many different sections is the area of the leaning columns that was once the marketplace. The columns support a terrace and a colorful, undulating balustrade and bench.

Depart Park Güell and drive to the Sagrada Familia, possibly the most famous of all of Gaudí's work. Enjoy a guided tour of the exterior of the church. This extraordinary church was the main work of Gaudí. Unfinished at the time of his death, it is now under the direction of the architect Subirat. Continue on to another famous Gaudí monument, La Pedrera. La Pedrera, an apartment building, is one of the most notable highlights of Barcelona and is known for its extraordinary architectural features. Here you will explore its fascinating interior and rooftop, before concluding your tour. Please note: La Pedrera is sometimes unavailable due to high demand for tickets and limited availability. On such occasions Casa Batlló, another of Gaudí's architectural jewels and a sight of exceptional beauty inside, will replace La Pedrera. The building is 2,000 sq. mts. of Modernist Salons. Spaces are distributed between the Noble Floor, with its modernist open-air patio of 300 sq. mts. and its famous Cocheras, converted today to magnificent prestigious salons where many city events are celebrated.

Gothic and Medieval Barcelona
Duration: 4 Hours. Lunch Included
Begin with a drive through the town center and then pause in front of the old city walls. Here you will disembark the motorcoach to visit Barcelona Cathedral and its cloister in the Gothic area of the city. Then continue to Plaça Sant Jaume, site of the Town Hall and the Generalitat Buildings, and then on to Plaça del Rei where the History Museum of the City is located. Next, leave the Gothic Quarter for a guided panoramic tour of the city's sights which include Montjuich, Plaça de España, Gran Via, Rambla Catalunya, and Passeig de Gracia, making a photo stop at Sagrada Familia. (Please note that a detailed exterior visit is included in the Gaudí's Barcelona tour BCN-2685.) Afterward, you will have the opportunity to visit another important area of the city - the Montjucih mountain, where many of the Olympic sites of the city are located and where you will visit a wonderful museum located inside the National Palace of Catalonia. The MNAC specializes in Gothic and Romantic art, but Panteocrats and Gothic pieces found in old Barcelona, as well as temporary exhibitions are also displayed in this museum.

Miro Foundation and Picasso Museum
Duration: 4 Hours. Lunch included
Drive to the Miró Foundation, a beautiful building designed by Josep Lluis Sert and perfectly located on Montjuich mountain. You will visit the main galleries and temporary exhibits. The Foundation shows all of the most important paintings and sculptures from the different periods of Joan Miró. From the Miró Foundation you will go to the Picasso Museum located in a beautiful palace in the Gothic area of the city. The museum is located on one of the most beautiful streets of the town. In the museum you will be able to admire several early Picasso paintings, including those from his pink and blue periods, as well as the earlier Cubist years. After your visit to the galleries, have a glass of Catalan Cava in the museum restaurant before returning to the pier.

Clothing on shore:

Look forward to warm, even hot weather with some cooler breezes at night. Especially for shore excursions, we recommend loose, comfortable cottons or other lightweight clothing.

Some of the tours involve long bus rides and/or considerable walking, so comfortable shoes are recommended.

Please bear in mind that shore excursion coaches are air conditioned and you may wish to bring a light sweater.

On tours that include visits to places of worship, shorts and bare shoulders are not permitted.
