Guide
See
this fascinating ancient city, Gateway to Africa to centuries of Iberian
traders and travelers just a stone's throw from Spain across the Strait
of Gibraltar. The three to four-hour tour, which runs year round, costs
just US$ 210.00. Per person , minimum 2 guests
Our
representative will meet you at the International port/pier in Tangiers.
The
tour begins with a scenic drive through the modern city along the main
street where the locals gather in the famous cafes. Cross Place de
France, the residential section and travel the mountain road past
the Cliffs of Hercules to Cap Spartel.
We'll
then arrive at Cap Spartel, the north-western most point of the
African continent, where the Mediterranean Sea and Atlantic Ocean converge.
Depart
Cap Spartel for Hercules Cave along the Atlantic route. We'll
tour the caves, which have been continuously inhabited since the Neolithic
era, then leave, on our way passing a Saudi Arabian estate, Roman ruins
and beautiful countryside.
Arrive
at the Kasbah, the fortressed portion of the city. At this, the
highest point of the city, you will have a beautiful view of the Strait
of Gibraltar, and the Spanish village of Tarifa directly opposite. See
snake charmers and Barbara Hutton's home. You'll also visit the Kasbah
Museum, which reflects the history and archaeology of the area.
Stop
at a restaurant for a Morrocan-style lunch with Moroccan folk-lore,
belly dancers and Andalusian musicians. The typical Moroccan lunch consists
of Moroccan salad or Moroccan soup, Shish Kebab, chicken couscous and,
of course, Moroccan cake and delicious glasses of hot fresh mint tea.
Depart
the kasbah and begin a descent through the medina.
You'll
then proceed through the Spanish section of Tangiers to return to the
International port/pier, where you'll board the ferry back to Gibraltar.
This
tour includes guided sightseeing including all entrance fees as listed.
Transportation by air conditioned motor-coaches, all local taxes, the
pre-set lunch menu, and a Lonely Planet Guide book.
You
must inform us at the time you book this tour of your Ferry's arrival
and departure details. You may arrive from Algeciras, Spain or Gibraltar.
Note that from Gibraltar, on Friday, the ferry leaves at 5PM, which
may give you a good incentive to board from Algeciras instead. If need
be, you may consider driving from Gibraltar to Algeciras (about 30 minutes)
or taking one of the regularly scheduled buses from La Linea, on the
Spanish side of the Gibraltar border, to Algeciras if the schedule works
better for you.
