DAY
1 - Friday TOKYO
(Tour FA1)
You'll arrive today at Narita airport and quickly clear customs and
immigration. (Please proceed to the "Shuttle
Van Ticket Counter" at the arrival lobby ,after you clear customs
& passport formalities
We've arranged for transportation on the airport limousine bus right
to your lodgings at the comfortable Ginza Capital Hotel or a similar
establishment, where you'll unpack for a four-night stay. Depending
on your time of arrival, you'll have an afternoon or most of the day
free to rest from your journey and begin acquainting yourself with the
city. You'll appreciate immediately the small marvels of Japanese urban
life: spotless streets, a pace that's fast but always in control, bicycles
left untended and unlocked, vending machines dispensing superb hot coffee
in cans (or whiskey, if you wish), and signs in English. Everything's
the same, but a little bit different. You'll be comfortable in, and
fascinated by, Tokyo.
DAY
2 - Saturday TOKYO ( L)
(Tour : A100)
We'll call for you this morning and take you on a visit that puts everything
in this busy but orderly city into perspective. You'll ascend to the
observatory of Tokyo Tower for a view of the metropolis, and continue
onward to participate in a traditional tea ceremony at Happoen Garden.
We'll then stop at the plaza of the Imperial Palace, with a chance to
view the tranquil gardens in the very heart of the city. Lunch ( included)
is at the Chinzanso Garden Restaurant, with a subtlety of flavors and
marinades that gives new meaning to "barbecue." Then it's
on past the Diet (say "dee-yet"!), Japan's parliament, to
a pier on the Sumida River, where we'll embark on a boat tour and cruise
to Asakusa. Here, we'll stop at the Asakusa Kannon Temple with its great
traditional archway, and stroll the Nakamise shopping street with its
displays of wares. Finally, we'll pass through throbbing Ginza, where
space is in such high demand that restaurants and stores climb to the
second and third and fourth floors of every building.
DAY
3 - Sunday - TOKYO, CRUISE (D)
(Tour : A170)
Today, you'll have the chance to return to points of interest and explore
further on your own. Perhaps you'll stroll through the East Garden of
the Imperial Palace; or you'll walk through one of the fine department
stores of the city, where every item is perfectly displayed, right down
to fruits of uniform size and hue. Or you'll wonder at the marvels of
Akihabara, the neighborhood where next year's miniature cell phones,
video cameras and avant-garde electronics are on sale right now.
Lunch can be anything from a vending-machine feast to familiar fast
food, to an elegant eatery where you select your main course from an
illustration. You'll learn that for all its exoticism, Tokyo is most
accommodating of the visitor, right down to signs in English.
Wherever your day takes you, we'll all meet up in the evening to enjoy
a dinner featuring fine French cuisine, as we cruise Tokyo Bay
aboard the good ship Symphony and marvel at the bright lights
of the metropolis. Afterwards, we'll return to our hotel via the neon-lit
districts of Akasaka and Ginza.
DAY
4 - Monday TOKYO, MOUNT FUJI, HAKONE, KYOTO
(Tour F800)
We'll leave the metropolis for a day of extraordinary natural beauty.
We depart in the morning by motor coach, passing through Tokyo's orderly
outlying communities and, later, carefully tended fields and orchards,
to a stop at the Peace Pagoda. Our route will take us halfway up the
slopes of Japan's emblematic mountain, to a stop for lunch on familiar
fare at the Hotel Highland Resort.
Refreshed
and rested, we'll proceed to Hakone and a cruise on Lake Ashi. Then
its onward in unconventional style via the Mt. Komagatake Aerial Cableway
toward Odawara, where we'll catch the Shinkansen-the bullet train-for
a rapid trip back to Tokyo.

DAY
5 - Tuesday TOKYO, BULLET TRAIN, KYOTO
(Tour : WTOA-S)
One of the technological marvels of modern Japan is the Bullet Train,
the legendary Shinkansen. Today, we'll experience speed, comfort, and
quintessentially Japanese courtesy and service as we ride the Shinkansen
from Tokyo to Kyoto. Our staff will meet you at your hotel and see you
to Tokyo station, and safely aboard your train. Within minutes-and always
on time!-the doors will close, and the train will effortlessly glide
away. With a quiet that belies its speed and power, the sleek carriages
will transport you through the neat suburbs, into rice fields, past
tidy villages and orchards, and within sight of Mount Fuji. You'll be
expected at Kyoto station, where personnel will be on hand to see that
you and your bags make it into a taxi and onward to your lodgings. You'll
settle into the Rihga Royal Hotel for the first of four nights.
DAY
6 - Wednesday KYOTO (L)
(Tour : N100)
Japan's ancient capital has a character all its own: traditional, venerable,
yet just as modern as Tokyo, as we'll see during our visit today. Among
the sights we'll visit are Nijo Castle, the Golden Pavilion, and the
ancient Imperial Palace. We'll lunch (included) at the Kyoto Handicraft
Center, then continue to the Heian shrine, Sanjusangendo Hall and Kiyomizu
Temple.

Mt.Fuji
DAY
7 - Thursday OSAKA, KYOTO (L)
(Tour : N150)
With Kyoto as our base, we'll take a day trip by fast train to the port
city of Osaka, less than an hour away. Osaka boasts a Floating Garden
Observatory, Ohatsu Tenjin, the Osaka Castle where medieval knights
and samurai held sway, Shtennoji Temple, and Tsutenkaku Tower. We'll
see them all, with time for lunch in a local restaurant, then return
to our lodgings in Kyoto.
DAY 8 - Friday KYOTO
Once more, you'll have a day to relax, return to the Imperial Palace
for further exploration, or strike out into new territory. No doubt,
you'll have learned a few basic words such as "arigato" (thank
you), and a few gestures, such as bowing politely, that will open doors
and bring on smiles. Our local personnel can assist with an organized
excursion. Though you'll also find that local public transport, with
its signs in English, is visitor-friendly.
DAY
9 - Saturday DEPARTURE From Osaka
