Vulcano, with its 22 square
km., maintains until today the charm of wild nature, which you
can taste either by walking up to the craters or by navigating
around the island. The dominant colors are yellow and green,
because of sulphurous crusts of its peacks and black because
of its volcanic sand.
It includes four volcanic cones and, among them, one is still active.
Connected by a long isthmus, there is Vulcanello, only 120 meters
tall above the level of the sea. Here the exit of warm gas from
the seabed provokes undersea boiling which makes the water very
hot: that’s why its beach is one of the most favorite places
for tourists to visit.
