Its extension is 12,6 square
km.. It is black during the day and red during the night because
of the continuous eruptions of its volcano, which is 926 meters
tall.
The island has two villages: Stromboli and Ginostra, which is reachable
only through the sea. It is rich of vegetation, brooms, olive trees,
prickly pears and oleanders and, in the hinterland, vineyards and
palm trees.
