It is the smallest island
of the Eolian Archipelago since its extension is only 3,4 square
km., but it is geologically the oldest one. Certainly it is the
most exclusive. Thanks to its beauty from the glossy green of
the vineyards to the white of the houses and typical terraces
and the narrow roads, where cars are prohibited to circulate,
it gives to tourists an atmosphere unique indeed.
Its volcanic origin is visible from fumaroles called “caldaie”(boilers)
, that, when the sea is calm, boil between the islets of Bottaro
and Lisca Bianca. Famous and the most beautiful is the indented
beach of Cala Junco with blue and transparent water, close to the
village of Drauto.
