Isis was the powerful and quick-witted protector of her son Horus, the Sun God. Ancient peoples throughout the Mediterranean regarded Isis and Horus as the perfect Madonna and Child. Our family of 4 took a 3 week vacation in Egypt & Jordan in October 2008. The trip was organized by Travel in Style, San Francisco.

We choose Travel in Style as they allowed us a better variety of hotel choices and Nile cruise boat choices. We selected the Sonesta Star Goddess and the Four Seasons Hotels in both Cairo and Sharm El Sheikh.

After 3 days in Cairo, we took a week boat trip from Aswan to Luxor and back to Aswan . We then flew to Abu Simbel for the day, before heading off to the Sinai. From the Sinai we took a 3 day tour into Petra, Jordan. We ended up with a couple of relaxing days at The Four Seasons Resort in Sharm.

Travel in Style completely accommodated our many requests for various destinations.

As an architect, there were certain sites that were important for me to see while there and Travel in Style had no problem adding these requests to our itinerary.

Travel in Style, through their agents in Egypt and Jordan, provided terrific local support. The Guides (all Egyptologists) were absolutely excellent and the agents and drivers were superb.

Most importantly, throughout the trip we felt safe. Additionally, agents and guides were always flexible to our needs and requests.

We have no hesitation in recommending Travel in Style. It was a fantastic holiday on every level.

Like you we had a fantastic trip with them last Feb/March. Omar and his team worked very hard for us before and during our trip to make sure we had an unforgettable 20th anniversary trip to Egypt and Jordan.

Last: 5/27/2010 We agree whole-heartedly. This is an exceptional small travel agency.
Aside from working closely in advance to personalize our deluxe month-long trip to Morocco, Egypt and Jordan, their advice was superb. At each destination we were met at the airport by a local rep (in Cairo and Amman actually inside the customs area) and excorted to our hotels where they handled the check-in for us. At each airport depoarture, their rep handled the check-in and luggage check for us. We felt like visiting diplomats. When a small glitch in the itinerary occurred while we were in Cairo, I e-mailed the local rep and also Omar in San Francisco. Within 20 minutes the owner of the Cairo agency telephone me to assure me all had been straightened out; Omar had telephoned him immediately upon receiving my e-mail to make sure his client was well cared for. We cannot recommend them highly enough and believe it would be a mistake to plan a trip to this area without consulting them.

Al Sultan Muezz Le-Din-Allah ( LedeenAllah )
He was the fourth Fatimid Caliph in Tunisia, the first in Egypt and the 14th Imam of the Ismaili branch of Shi’ism.

He ruled from AD 953 to AD 975 during which he sent his Commander Jawhar al-Siqqily to conquer Egypt.

After having wrenched the country out of Abbasid hands, Al-Siqqily built a new capital, al-Qahira (Cairo), in which he established the Eastern Palace and asked al-Muizz to preside at the opening ceremony.

Al-Muizz was well-read in numerous languages, and well-informed in science and literature. He knew how to administer the affairs of the state and was able to build a strong army, which united Morocco and extended Fatimid influence as far as southern Italy

Cleopatra's
First visit to Rome.

She Turned Heads. The Senate was not amused

Cleopatra visited Rome in 46 BC, was received in triumph, and moved into Caesar's villa even though Caesar was already married. Caesar's imperial ambitions and his indiscreet extramarital affair with Cleopatra turned powerful senators against him, and he was murdered on the steps of the Senate in March of 44 BC.

A Summit Meeting with the Mighty Pharaoh : Cheops A true Pyramid Builder

The King's Chamber in the Great Pyramid was not meant to be visited:

G
etting to it is challenging, and once you enter, it is very difficult to turn back. The stone passage is only wide enough for one person. You must be in good physical condition, able to climb several flights of stairs, bend double, crouch and duck-walk for short distances. The King's Chamber itself is the world's most claustrophobic place, with dim light and heavy, hot, oxygen-poor air. There is no ventilation. If you are at all sensitive to claustrophobia or confinement, or if you have any sort of respiratory condition, for your own safety and the safety of others, you must not enter the pyramid because it is impossible to remove a person or to bring aid to them quickly .

Nefertiti Turns Egypt Upside Down!!

The first bloodless religious revolution against the established church in Ancient Egypt
And the seat of power that rested with the priests in Karnak

Nefertiti Turns Egypt Upside Down!! 1350 BC - Queen Nefertiti is reported to have led her Egyptian subjects on a wild spree of idol-smashing, temple-destruction, and forced migration, all part of a campaign of religious reformation. In Egypt a temple painting of a well-endowed Nefertiti in a chariot, wearing only a see-through cloak and thong-style panties, may explain why it was easy for Egyptian to follow her to the end of the Earth.

"From now on, there will be only one Deity, and that Deity is Aten, the Sun Disc," she has commanded.

Reliable sources in the Nile Valley report that all temples to gods other than Aten have been closed, and that a hefty fine will be imposed on anyone caught with an outlawed statuette.

Idols are to be smashed immediately, and the shards turned over to the priests of Aten.

"The capital of Egypt will now be at Tel El Amarna," reads a decree widely circulated in cuneiform on clay tablets.

"All priests are to settle within one hour's journey of the new Temple to Aten. All bidders on public works contracts will likewise have their head offices within the same specified distance."

Egyptian leaders in exile have disputed the motives behind the upheaval. "It's just a ploy to concentrate power and wealth in her hands and those of her husband, Ikhnaton," stated one defrocked priest.

"Everybody knows that Nefertiti has risen to her position on qualities that have nothing to do with religion.

She isn't called Incarnation of Beauty for nothing," he added, referring to the literal meaning of her name. The source asked not to be identified, fearing reprisals. Tel El Amarna, Nile Valley, 2004 - from Paul Glassman, special correspondent "Wow," commented Joe Shiner, an agro-businesman from Des Moines, as he toured the main temple at Tel El Amarna. "It's one thing to hear that Nefertiti was a real beauty. But it's quite another to visit in person and learn the real story." "Until I came here, I didn't know that she was behind the idea of having only one god-even before the Hebrews and Christians and followers of Mohammed.

"And now that I see her picture, I can understand why people followed her. This is not what I expected . . . not at all!" Mr. Shiner gestured as he spoke to a temple painting of a well-endowed Nefertiti in a chariot, wearing only a see-through cloak and thong-style panties.

"If she was my queen, I'd follow her to the end of the . . . "
Mr. Shiner's comments were interrupted by the approach of his wife.
