A bird's eye view of Tiran Island shows its proximity to the borders of Saudi Arabia where the waters are shallow, hence no ships can pass except through the Straits . Tiran itself is out of bounds, but the Reefs around it are not, i.e.. Gordon Reef to the north, Jackson Reef to the south, Woodhouse and Thomas reefs in the middle, these renowned reefs are more frequented by divers than Ras Mohamed .
