Kenya
Safari Tips

English is spoken throughout East Africa,
so there is seldom a problem with communication. Though Kenya straddles
the equator, the climate in our safari areas (at 3000 to 5000 feet elevation)
is mild, pleasant and mostly sunny with average daytime temperatures
of 80° F and a nighttime average of 55° F.
American citizens require a visa to visit
Kenya, which must be obtained in advance from the Embassy of Kenya,
2249 R St NW, Washington DC 20008 (tel (202) 387-6101). Obtaining a
visa is the responsibility of each traveler.
You should also consult your doctor about
anti-malarial medication, which should be taken before, during and after
your trip.

Hotels on safari are very comfortable,
with private bath or shower (except tree hotels). Hotel check-out time
is 10 am. Day use rooms are available until 6 PM at additional cost.
On safari, luggage is limited to one suitcase
of reasonable size, plus cameras and other small hand baggage. At tree
hotels, only a small overnight case is permitted; other luggage is stored
at the hotel base camp. Baggage is at its owner's risk, and baggage
insurance is advisable at all tree hotels except Mountain Lodge.
The food in Kenya is excellent, and the
cuisine is of a high international standard. You should drink bottled
water instead of tap water.
